State Of The World – November

Welcome to State of the World – November edition. In this edition, I look at five stories over the last month that have interested me. Let’s get started.

Wait times for Gender Clinic’s Reviled

The most up-to-date wait times for Gender Clinic’s around the UK has been released by WeAreQueerAF.

It shows the average wait time is 45 years and the longest wait time, in Glasgow is over 220 years ! !

This is just unacceptable, I hope this makes people notice just how bad Gender Healthcare is in the UK

UK might be following the US for Transgender Military Personal

Colonel Grace Sangster-Wall, the most senior transgender officer in the British Army, said on Tuesday, 23rd September, during a keynote speech at the LGBT Defence Awards, that it is unlikely any transgender person will be in the UK military beyond 2026.

I have done a post about this very scary issue here.

If this is true than the MOD needs to get there act together. As a transgender veteran I will be ashamed to be a vet.

Cass Report full of Stigma and Misinformation

Pink News has put out an article that slams the Cass Report yet again. This time it is the Medical Journal of Australia who published a report on the 6th October that says “The CASS Review does not guide care for trans young people” and “Good medicine is guided by the values of the patient, not those of a clinician, politician, or commentator.”

Yet again a medical profession body slams the very transphobic CASS report. This government needs to scrap the guidance it offers and unban puberty blockers for trans kids.

Why Digital ID will be bad for LGBT People

The current Labour Government has announced plans to introduce mandatory Digital ID for everyone in the UK. This is concerning for several reasons.

Firstly, security is a major concern. The government’s track record in securing its computer systems is poor, and introducing a single point of weakness could allow hackers to access everyone’s ID. No computer system is entirely secure, and this initiative could be exploited.

Secondly, there are concerns about potential misuse of the Digital ID system. While it’s unlikely that this government will use it to create a database of all transgender people in the UK, current polling suggests that Reform UK could get into power in 4 years, and they would probably use it to segregate transgender individuals from society.

Lastly, this initiative represents a waste of money. The government has a history of overspending on large IT projects, and there’s no clear need for a Digital ID system when we already have a form of ID called the National Insurance Number, which is required for every citizen.

I really hope that the 2 million petition that wants Digital ID to not come into force is listened to.

Manchester has submitted a bid to host a huge European LGBT festival.

Manchester Pride has put the city forward to host the annual EuroPride event in 2028, which often attracts close to a million visitors each year.

Run by the European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA), EuroPride is hosted each year in a different location. It first took place in 1992 in London, with this year’s event taking place in Lisbon. It will be held in Amsterdam in 2026 and Torino in 2027.

If successful, the bid has proposed that the 2028 event, which will run for ten days from August 18 to 27, would comprise of a series of concerts, club nights, and parades, as well as the SCENE film and TV festival, Family Pride, a LGBTQ Sports Forum and a EuroPride village.

All of the main events as part of EuroPride 2028 would be free to attend, and would be likely to feature a line-up of world-renowned artists and LGBTQ talent. Over the years, the festival has featured the likes of Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Boy George and Sir Ian McKellen.

The bid suggests celebrations would begin with an Opening Ceremony in a ‘specially constructed staging area in Albert Square’, which would feature international performers, community speakers and a light show. There would also be health conferences, rally events and vigils lined up throughout the ten days.

Lets hope that Manchester can win this so more free LGBT event’s are held in the North of England.
