This will be my last blog post purely about my experience with GenderGP as I now have the HRT that I have been after since coming out 3 ½ years ago.

From next month (I started HRT on the 24th May 2024) I will be talking about the experience of HRT month by month but also when I have dealing with GenderGP I will also talk about them as well.

So, how did I get my HRT. Well last month I left you with I was contacting GenderGP as I had heard nothing from them. I had the 15 minute meeting that cost me £7.99 and was told the system had not recognised I had paid as I paid after I filled out the initial form. I also paid £15 for an independent prescription that I will talk about later.

After about a week after this appointment I got 2 Treatment Recommendation’s. (They was different, one just had Estradiol Tablets (Estrogen) while the other had that and Finasteride (Testosterone Blockers)).

I waited a week for the prescription to come through from the independent subscriber but didn’t get one. I took the treatment plan to my GP, who after reviewing it phoned me the next day.

My GP said basically I needed to do a baseline bloodtest and he would prescribe the HRT to me. Now not all GP’s will do this, I am very lucky I have a supportive GP.

At the time of writing I still have not had anything from the independent prescriber, so I wouldn’t recommend paying the £15 for it. I do have a friend who is also with GenderGP who gets her HRT delivered to her.

Now I have 3 months’ worth of supply of HRT, after 3 months you have to take another blood test to make sure your levels are ok. I will talk about how that goes with GenderGP when I do it.

So was it worth it? Yes. I ultimately got HRT a lot faster than I would have going the NHS Route (My GIS is still seeing people from April 2019, it’s been stuck there for a year now and I registered with them in July 2022).

Was it a good experience? No, if it was not for my friend who is with them I would have been pulling my hair out over it. It’s the worst service I have ever used. But it’s also the cheapest by far.

The total cost for me is £312.99 plus 2 months of the £30 subscriptions. So a total of £372.99. Its ½ the price of going with other clinics. This is ONLY if you have a GP that is supportive as it will cost a LOT more (ie my friend pays £180 every 3 months for her HRT) if you don’t. You will also have to pay for your blood tests, which my GP will do for free as well.
