GenderGP - Month 2

As promised here is my month 2 experience going with GenderGP as I am fed up with waiting for the NHS GIS.

So far I am disappointed. I had my Information Gathering Service session on the 16th of last month. I was accepted that I should be on HRT.

This meeting was pretty painless. All they do is ask you questions about when you was growing up, how Gender Dysphoria affected you and how it affects you now. They also ask if you have socially transitioned or not, if you have changed your name and do you live as you’re the gender you should have been born in. The meeting is about 40 minutes.

You have to book another meeting after 3 months to see how things are going then its every 6 months after that.

After that, they said it should be about 1 week and I would hear back from them. This was almost 3 weeks ago and I have not heard back from them at the time of writing this blog post.

I have set up a meeting for Tuesday the 7th, at a cost of £7.99, to find out why I have not heard back from them.

Also in this meeting I want to discuss getting my doctor to do the blood tests you have to get done. (First one is 3 months, then every 6 months after that). The person at the IGS said the information is on the website, but I cannot find out where on the website I have to go.

I think the problem is I didn’t pay for the Independent Prescriber Referral Fee (£15) but I am not 100% sure. The fact that I have heard nothing about this from GenderGP is very disappointing though. I was hoping by now I would have started my HRT Journey.

I will keep you updated on how things progress.
