Why outing trans kids at school is a bad idea

The government is on about publishing guidelines to schools that could force them to out trans kids at school to their parents. Transgender kids are those who identify with a gender different from the one assigned to them at birth. They may express their gender identity through their clothing, hairstyle, name, pronouns, or other ways. Some trans kids may also seek medical interventions, such as hormone therapy or surgery, to align their body with their gender identity. Outing is the act of revealing someone's sexual orientation or gender identity without their consent. It can happen intentionally or unintentionally, by family members, friends, classmates, teachers, or strangers. Outing can have serious consequences for the person who is outed, especially if they are not ready or willing to share this information with others. As someone who is a trans woman, one of the hardest things I did was "come out" to your family. I chose to hide the fact I was trans as I was bro

Living as Transgender in the UK

Being transgender means having a gender identity that differs from the sex assigned at birth. Transgender people may identify as male, female, non-binary, or any other gender identity. Transgender people face many challenges and barriers in the UK, such as discrimination, harassment, violence, lack of access to healthcare, and social isolation. However, there are also many sources of support and empowerment for transgender people in the UK, such as legal rights, community groups, online platforms, and allies. One of the most important aspects of living as transgender in the UK is accessing gender-affirming healthcare. This includes hormone therapy, surgery, and psychological support. However, the NHS has long waiting lists and strict criteria for accessing these services, which can cause distress and frustration for transgender people. Some transgender people may choose to seek private healthcare or self-medicate with hormones bought online, but these options can be expensive and risky

Equalities Watchdog not fit for purpose

So this week has been, lets be frank, a crap week for LGBT people in the UK. The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) answered a letter to them by Kemi Badenoch, the Equalities minister about changing the law that is most important for all LGBT people, The Equality Act 2010. Falkner said the move could bring "greater legal clarity" in eight areas, including sport and pregnancy and maternity protections. She outlined three areas in which it cou

Why friends are important in your life.

So, I have been absent from this blog for a while, and also stopped doing the community news for TransRadio UK for a few months as well. Here is why. Recently a lot of transphobia has been hitting my Twitter Feed and Facebook DM’s. Also the Labour Party, well the leader of the Labour Party in particular, has also been eating at my mental health with his comments about Transgender Women. Then the World Athletics Body banned Trans Women from sports and the Uganda anti LGBT law, not mentioning whats going on in America. Then to top it all off, the Balkans, where some of the incidents where I got my PTSD from, has been in the news about flaring tensions so that hasn’t helped at all. In summary, my mental health has taken a battering since the new year, so I have decided to take a break. In fact, I have come off Twitter and Facebook all together. I only now have Facebook Messenger and Instagram. I have been like this for about 2 weeks now, and to be honest, its the best thing I have ever do
