So, we have the last 2 MP’s who will be our PM for probably the next 2 years unless an early GE is called. They are Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak. Both where both Cabinet Ministers under the outgoing PM, Boris Johnson. Liz Truss was the Foreign Secretary and Equalities Minister while Rishi Sunak was the Chancellor. Liz Tuss Liz Truss while Equalities Minister oversaw the EHRC, Appointed its head, Baroness Nicholson, who has proven to be transphobic and also said she wants to protect “Single Sex Spaces”.  During her time in the equalities office, Truss has repeatedly hit out at “identity politics”, saying nobody wants to be a “token gay person” in a working environment – but perhaps her biggest failure lies in reforming the Gender Recognition Act (GRA). In September 2020, Truss announced that she would not introduce self-identification for trans people. If adopted, it would have allowed trans people to change their legal gender without a diagnosis of gender dysphoria and without answering i

What is Conversion Therapy

Image
Conversion therapy is any emotional or physical therapy used to “cure” or “repair” a person’s attraction to the same sex, or their gender identity and expression. Providers claim these therapies can make someone heterosexual or “straight.” But there’s no evidence to support this. Medical and mental health experts have rejected conversion therapy practices as dangerous and discriminatory for decades. It not only doesn’t work, but could also lead to: Depression Anxiety Drug use Homelessness Suicide In extreme cases, the practices may be violent or torturous. Conversion therapy is sometimes called “reparative therapy” or “ex-gay therapy.” What Does Conversion Therapy Look Like? Psychotherapy. Talk therapy is the most widely used. Why am I trans ... a common question trans people get asked.

It’s amazing the number of people who’ll try and argue other people out of being trans, as if no one has ever tried before. Sometimes those doing the arguing are motivated by concern, and sometime annoyance, confusion or outrage. Their “arguments” are presented as rational undoings of our supposedly broken reasoning, as though being trans is a riddle which can be solved with the correct interpretation. Perhaps even stranger are those people who present no arguments at all but wonder, gently, if we’ve considered just …. not being trans. Just, maybe avoiding it until it goes away. It often comes down to the split between words and deeds, the question “well why do you have anything to do about it?” I have heard that a lot when I first mention that I want to medically transition. Underlying all of this is the idea that being trans is something unfortunate, impossible to understand and better to ignore. Something you could probably change, if you put your mind to it or grow out of, if you j

A trans brain, a strange and wonderful thing.

My sexuality has been all over the pace recently, as stated in my last post I have flipped flopped from Lesbian to Bi to Lesbian. Even thought I am still sorting it out I think I am getting there.   Someone told me something recently that made a lot of sense. As a transgender woman who knew there was something wrong at the age of 5 but was brought up under section 28, I did not know what Transgender was at the time. Then I joined the army and it was illegal to be LGBT at that time (1996). So all this time, up to when I was 45 I was pretending to be a man. It takes time for my brain to finally become free and think more like it should have been from day 1, a woman. So with this change other things also change, like the way I act, the things I like (Used to hate pink and bright colours, now love them for instance) and other things like my sexuality. I think now my brain is slowly starting to settle down, this goes along with my tastes etc. For instance I used to be a big Si-Fi nut, mad a
