Had my first abuse for being trans.
I experienced my first abuse yesterday as I am writing this (Wednesday 4th) with someone who lives near me.
At 2130 last night a neighbour started playing music so loud I couldn't hear my TV without turning it up. Bare in mind I have my TV plugged into a speaker system so it can go quite loud, I had to turn it up to 1/2 for me to even hear it. I usually have it on between 2-4%.
So I got a stick and tapped his window where he was playing the music over my back garden wall. This guy came out speaking in a language I did not understand, tried to spit in my face. I told him to turn his music down so he then called me a "Gay B*****D and a Gay C***T" over and over again. He said meet me out front so he can do something to be, I didn't exactly catch what he said but I have an idea.
After a minute or so I heard him shouting in the middle of the street "Come out Gay B*****D, Gay C***T, Gay T**T" and more, you get the idea.
Now I am an ex soldier so it takes a lot for me to be scared, and I was not of him. I went upstairs to look out of my window and there he was with a baseball bat in the middle of the street swinging it near my door and windows.
I got an old broomstick for self defence and went out of my front door. After a few more insults and swings of his bat in my direction his son came out of the house, asked me to go in and said he will drag his dad back inside the house. As I was closing my front door the dad took a swing at me, I think he hit either the front door or the frame of it. I stayed in the house to let his son drag his dad back in the house, which he did. I can not tell where he hit my door/frame as there are no markings on it.
I phoned the police and told them what had happened. The guy one the phone was very nice, no issue with me being trans and even asked what my pronouns are. This was at about 10pm. I told him I usually go to sleep at 12 midnight.
I got no phone call off the police at midnight so went to bed. I woke up this morning with 2 miss calls from a private number at 00:46 and a text to contact the local police. So I did at 06:30 this morning.
It is now 16:09 and I have just had to phone the police back. They have told me "no one has been available all day" Sorry but I was threatened with a baseball bat, called all names under the sun with homophobic abuse and "no one is available". The state of the police these days ! !
I will continue this post when the police finally contact me then publish it.
Today is Friday the 6th, 4 days after the incident happened. I have just made an appointment for the Police to come around Monday Night at 7pm. I'm sorry this is not good enough. I will be having words with my local CLP about this response. More updates in next weeks post.
I’m sorry you went through this! It’s not good enough and we need to stamp hate out.
ReplyDeleteThe police work hard, but the Tory Government have cut cut cut, and now say they have given more officers.. no sorry more officers on internet crime is not replacing what you already cut.
