EHRC is unfit for purpose.

 After a week in which the trans community is mourning the loss of a 12Yo Trans Boy, who died by his own hand thanks to being bullied at school, it has been leaked that the EHRC is now trying to ban Trans people from spaces that is the same as the gender they identify as unless they have a GRC.

What is a GRC?

A Gender Recognition Certificate is the document issued that shows that a person has satisfied the criteria for legal recognition in the acquired gender. The Act gives people with gender dysphoria legal recognition as members of the sex appropriate to their gender identity allowing them to acquire a Gender Recognition Certificate. Less than 1% of Trans people has a GRC as they are very hard to get.

Why is this bad?

Transgender people in the UK are being attacked from all sides. As I stated in the opening paragraph, we lost a 12Yo Trans Boy due to bullying at school. When informing the rest of the school and parents, the headteacher of the school deadnamed (Used his old name, or the name he was born with) when telling anyone. There was an outrage in the Transgender community over this and all his friends was outraged as well. The Mainstream Media here did not pick up on it at all.

Then GC's (Gender Critical's) has been posting anti trans posters around some towns and cities in the UK and even been putting broken glass behind the posters so when people take them down it is dangerous for them to do so.

Then the EHRC got involved.

What is the EHRC?

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) monitors human rights, protecting equality across 9 grounds - age, disability, sex, race, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, sexual orientation and gender reassignment.

EHRC is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Cabinet Office. The current minister in charge is Liz Truss.

This body was set up by a Labour Government to protect Human Rights including the LGBT community and Trans People.

What's Happened?

Since the current Tory government took over 11 years ago, the EHRC has been going very hostile towards transgender people slowly but surely. Recently Liz Truss, who is the minister that is responsible for the ERHC put Baroness Kishwer Falkner in overall charge of it. She is known to be transphobic in her views by some things she has supported in the House Of Lords.

A few weeks ago they advised Scotland to change it's laws for Trans Rights there. It has also emerged that they have had meetings with the Anti Trans "Charity" LGB Alliance and are pushing companies/governmental department's to leave the Stonewall Diversity Programme.

Then today, Twitter user and my friend, @LGBwiththeT posted a very disturbing article from VICE, one of the few media outlets that report on things about the struggles we have as transgender people.

Sorry but this is a body that was set up to protect our rights in public, yet they are attacking it. This has to stop. The UK has already been branded transphobic by the European Council, this just enforces that view. The British public by large are not, but this Conservative government is. I really hope that the Labour Party brings this up in parliament, and when they get in government at the next GE they clean the EHRC up as it is currently unfit for purpose.
