Personal News and the Labour Party.

Image
I have some personal news to share with everyone so this post this week will not be long. My legal name I have finally changed my legal name to "Kira Herdman". Goodbye Dead Name. This is such a big step for any Trans Woman. It means now I have a legal document that backs up what I am doing and no one can now say "this is a phase". Now to change everything else, long and tedious but worth it. Letter from the GIC I also have a recieved my first letter from the GIC that I am on the waiting list to get onto HRT. Only took them 2 months to send it out and now the 4 year wait starts. I really hope this becomes easier in the future for other people who wants to transition. Queer Lit I visted an LGBTQ+ book shop in Manchester this week. I would reccomend anyone who goes to Manchester (UK) to visit it. I have linked the website of the book shop here . The Labour Party I don't you if you heard Annelise Dodds speech  at the Labour conference, but what she said was music to

Trans people and Homelessness

This is going to be a hard post to write as I have personally been homeless. After a difficult time in my life I ended up on the street and had to go into a hostel for a few months. I was still identifying as a male at the time as I had not come out (this was about 8 years ago now) and it was hard BUT I was lucky. As an ex British Army Soldier I had support from a few veterans charities, the Royal British Legion and Shelter. They both gave me a lot of help getting the place here I live now, a rented 2 bed house. The RBL was a very big help as they got me a starter pack and paid the deposit and first month rent on my home while I was sorting things out. Now if I was a Transgender Woman who was not a veteran I would not have got any of that help. What would have happened if I was homeless then? Well, thanks to the excellent book by Shon Faye, " The Transgender Issue ", which is now a best seller, I have an idea. Hostels in general are hostile to Transgender people. While there

3 things that make me feel more woman

This is different for everyone but here are 3 things that make me feel more woman, even though I am still pre HRT thanks to the shocking trans health care on the NHS in the UK. Wigs My natural hair is almost gone as I have a massive bald patch, I am 45 after all. I have to wear wigs for any type of hairstyle. A good wig can transform your look totally. I have 5 in total, ranging from cheap £8 wigs from amazon to 1/2 decent £45 wigs from a local shop. I use all of them. I hate the way I look without one, I wont even go outside without one on. That is part of my Gender Dysphoria. Wearing skirts I'm a woman who love wearing skirts. They just make me feel very sexy when I walk. Yes they can be cold when it is cold outside but that's what tights are for. As I have stated before you should always wear undershorts with skirts but when you are walking and you can feel the fresh air on your legs and the skirt touching your legs. For me that's the best feeling ever. Nail Varnish Hav

Branon O'Neil from Spiked Online is Transphobic, who else in the MSM?

Spiked Online recently put out an article called " The Transgender Delusion " in which Brandon O'Neil talks about Shon Faye's new book, "The Transgender Issue". For the first paragraph he goes on about the fact that she is a transgender woman in a disgusting way. In fact the first line in his article is so hateful and hurtful I am in shock that this has even been published. " Shon Faye is a man who believes he is a woman. " If that is not hate then what is. After reading this I was fuming. The sentence afterwards just confirmed my suspicions that he has no clue what being transgender is and what struggles we go through. " He is wholly convinced that, while he might have reached ‘womanhood’ via a different method to, say, my mother, he is as much a woman as she is. " I have not read this book yet but I will be after finishing the current book I am reading. Its a Si-Fi book by Jack Campbell, "The Lost Fleet". Now I have got a lot
