5 Tips for when you just start or thinking of starting transitioning

Here are 5 tips that I have picked up while watching YouTube and reading blogs for people who want to or are just starting to or are well on their way to transition.

1. Haircut.

Getting a female haircut or mail haircut depending on if you are a MTF or FTM can make a big difference. Sometimes, like me, this is not an option and wigs are the way to go but if you can get the style of haircut that you are transitioning to. That way when you look in the mirror you see you are on the way to become the man or woman you should have been born as.

2. Hobby other than transitioning.

When you start transitioning it takes over your life. When I started I almost gave up on the hobby that I have done all my life, Technology. This was a mistake. While your hobbies my change you need something outside of transitioning to keep your mind occupied. Like I said mine was computers, and although I have not started YouTube again I have started streaming again. Transitioning can take time. Think of your mental health as well as the changes to your body.

3. Voice.

While this is mainly for Trans Woman as testosterone for Trans Men do this, learning your new voice for female is a good way to change. Remember your voice is a second face. Imagine if you saw someone and you are not sure if they are male or female but when they speak you an generally tell. A good YouTuber to start is Zoey Alexandrea.

4. Decide on what type of woman/man you want to be.

Its a good idea to decide on what type of woman, or man, you want to be. For me personally I want to be a femm creative type of woman. But some trans women want to be butch, sporty etc. It's good to decide on what you want to be early in your transition so you can start to act like it and pursue the woman you want to be.

5. Community.

One of the main strengths of being part of the LGBTQI+ community is the community itself. I am part of a few Facebook groups like LGBT Hangout and U.K. Trans. They offer good support if you are down and can answer question or point you in the right direction if you need a question answering. Don't limit yourself to online though. Check your local neighbourhood, there might be an LGBT Club or Pub, an local LGBT group. Its good to meet other people in the community, especially if they are Trans as well as they will know what you are going through.
